Economics/Business

Economics/Business
Negative

I got the opportunity to speak Dan Cathy of owner of Chick-fil-a and during this conversation I asked him what was the most important facet of his company was and with out hesitation and with out knowing about this years resolution he said “Cooperation. Cooperation makes up for about 75% of our business. Yes we look at what other companies are doing and try to make ourselves better. But cooperation is the biggest thing involved in the growth of our company.” Chick-fil-a is the 3rd largest fast food chain. In 2008 their sales reached 2.98 Billion dollars even without being opened on Sundays. The Cathy’s attribute this success to their cooperative efforts.

Orison Swett Marden (1850-1924 American author and founder of Success magazine) said
“No employer today is independent of those about him. He cannot succeed alone, no matter how great his ability or capital. Business today is more than ever a question of cooperation.” This quote explains to us in more detail how an employer need cooperation to run his or her business.

Imagine walking it to a store then you walk up to the costumer service desk. When you finally get through the line you are attended by one of the store’s employees. This employee does not want to work with you and answer you question or take your return. Overall this employee is being uncooperative. How is this experience? Not very good. I’m sure that all of us have experienced this at some point in our lives. I have been disheartened in the past because of an occurrence like this in the past. Our family has stopped going to at least two local restaurants due to poor customer service. I have seen people go to even farther extremes then this. As we can clearly see it is better for the company to cooperate with the customer.

(To show a brooder example reed the next bit)

Although musicians compete with each other to sell their music, music buyers must own the same kinds of music players in order to enjoy the sound. Consumers must come to an accord on the media formats that will become standard in an industry in order for the competition among record labels to be effective. There is no harmony in the music industry unless the players work together.
